Welcome to Charlestown Youth Basketball
Schedule
Our season typically runs from November to March. We will have open-format clinics in November and December for participants to brush up on their basketball skills. Teams will be formed in mid-December, with the official team practice schedule starting in mid-December and games beginning in early January. Each team will have at least one practice and one game per week during the middle of the week (no games on weekends, though optional practices may be available on some Saturdays). We will release the team schedules when teams are announced.
Locations
Practices and games may be held at a number of our partner facilities in Charlestown:
Charlestown YMCA: 150 3rd Avenue, Charlestown
Charlestown Community Center: 255 Medford Street, Charlestown
Harvard-Kent School: 50 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown
Boys and Girls Club of Charlestown: 15 Green Street, Charlestown (use High Street entrance)
We are incredibly grateful for our facility partnerships and remind our participants to be respectful of these premises when using them during CYB programming.
Fees
Scholarships available - CYB provides a “no questions asked” scholarship program to both existing and new members to help eliminate the financial barriers to participation in community basketball. Please check the box for “scholarship requested” when registering.
Team Assignments
We form balanced teams, each with an even distribution of skill levels. To help us form balanced teams, we ask that all participants attend an
Evaluation Session (TBD in mid-November). The evaluation session will give our evaluators a chance to see and assess all participants in order to place them on a team accordingly. This is NOT a tryout - all registered players will be placed on a team.
Divisions
Charlestown Youth Basketball has a Girls Program and Boys Program. Within each are three divisions:
Rookies = 2nd and 3rd grade
JV = 4th and 5th grade
Varsity = 6th and 7th grade
Volunteer Coaches
Our program relies on the support of our incredible parent and community volunteers to help coach. If you are interested in helping coach, there is an opportunity to sign up as a coach through the registration link below.
